What is really luck?
We all talk about luck and wish it upon ourselves and others. When was the last time you said ‘good luck’ or heard someone wishing you one? The phrase is abundant. We want luck in our lives! But is there really such a thing as luck? Where is that invisible line between objective vs subjective? How do we measure luck?
I have my own philosophy about luck. It’s really simple. Do the right thing at the right time! Don’t procrastinate. Don’t wait. Because if you do, someone will make it happen before you. Then you would say: ‘They were lucky.’
You work for your own luck by creating your own circumstances. You surround yourself with the right people. You want to be inspired in order to inspire others and pass your luck on. You ask for help when you need it and you don’t bend down when you hear a ‘no’. You search for answers when there seem to be none. You challenge yourself and overcome your fear.
Luck is about perseverance and resilience. You stay alive long enough to see opportunities come your way. You throw enough seeds on the ground to see a few take a root.
There are so many amazing life stories where people were about to give up, but then their luck have changed. Heard of the movie ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’? Ke Huy Quan, a main actor, is a great example of that. After a 25-year break from acting, he auditioned for the film. 25 years of holding on to his dream!! Can you imagine what would have happened if he didn’t go to that casting call?? Someone else would have gotten the luck!
So don’t wait for luck to fall on your head. It won’t happen. Go ahead and make that first step toward it!
